We consider ourselves fortunate that our Realtor suggested Pacific Group Developments as one of the companies which we should contact to remove our buried heating oil tank. Of the 4 companies which we invited to give an estimate for the removal of the tank, Pacific Group Developments quickly emerged as our preferred choice. The job involved some complexities since part of the tank was encased in a concrete staircase below my house foundation. The Pacific Group Developments staff are problem solvers. They devised a plan to dig below our foundation and staircase , then support the concrete holding up our house. Each stage of the removal process and improvised way to support a heavy concrete set of stairs and our house foundation was fascinating to watch during the process of removing the buried oil tank. They were able to communicate effectively to us throughout the project and after removing the oil tank, the site was restored to its original condition. We appreciate the skills in operating the digging equipment and their concern for the plants in the vicinity of the site. Pacific Group Development’s timely and successful intervention resulted in the sale of our house and property. Thank you !

Pacific Group Developments was contracted to replace my aging, collapsing, concrete driveway.  There were some challenges to this project as it is a steeply sloped concrete driveway of about 1000 square feet, with a couple of interesting grades hat had to be managed for water run-off and to accommodate a Telus basin and water main.  There were also challenges to overcome when we saw the condition of the prep work done for the previous concrete driveway. They gave me a clear estimate and assessment of what was required and noted explicitly what he thought we might run into that would change the initial cost.  As the project unfolded they kept me informed of what they were finding and what they planned to do about it.  They kept us involved appropriately along the way and invited me to monitor their work.   Although we had to wait for the right weather to do the concrete pour and concrete finishing, it was worth it.  The team of concrete finishers were excellent, and we could not be happier with our new concrete driveway.  The concrete driveway has never looked better,all of the grade challenges were addressed, and the job was hassle free. Everything was cleaned, and aside from the new concrete driveway, you would never know they were here. The staff  was excellent to work with. They were patient with my questions and happy to give us whatever information we needed to understand what was going on with the project.  They may not be the biggest contractor in town, but they did a great job and I am happy to recommend them.

As a person who doesn’t write reviews, if you want someone to make it happen and do a great professional job I would contact Kelsey and his Pacific Group Developments colleagues. We needed someone to come in at very short notice (we were selling the house) and sort out the mess left by another company who failed to tell us about foundation settlement issues related to their removal of an underground oil tank beneath our raised sun room. Kelsey and his guys re-excavated the large hole, installed new concrete foundation pillars, footings and posts and backfilled then cleaned up and left everything spotless. Well done guys.

Unfortunately the snows came but we were called to let us know of the delay in getting the excavation equipment down our driveway. Also, we went away on a vacation and when the snow cleared, your crew contacted our house sitter to let her know when you would be arriving to do the remove the buried oil tank.

Photographs were sent of the process and were very impressive. The oil tank was larger than we initially thought and contained more sediment and sludge. Your crew handled all that very well. The crew finished the job, filling the hole and levelling the ground with minor disruption to the yard.

Pacific Group were very quick to act when we discovered a buried underground oil tank in our yard when we went to sell our home. They worked quickly and diligently to have the buried oil tank removed in time for us to complete the sale of our home. They made what could have easily been a very stressful experience, into a completely pain free process including looking after permits and inspections. Pacific Group Developments is a very capable company! They have surprisingly, a very broad range of skills and service offerings. Our "backyard project" included new perimeter drains, rain water leaders, storm lateral with a new inspection chamber with a back flow valve to prevent flooding, 11 large fir tree stumps excavated and removed, concrete footings, sunken patio, rebuild supports for structure, grading, hydro jetting other drains, installing drainage sumps, retaining walls and the list goes on. All this was done on time and on budget. The crew showed up everyday in good form. I was struck at how familiar they are with so many different types of construction and maintenance practices. Storm drains and excavating etc is not cheap, but Kelsey helped me stretch my dollars so the whole job could be completed properly.

In September, Pacific Group Developments was contacted for a drainage culvert replacement job, which ran along our property line on a steep lot and access was a problem. The old concrete and steel drainage pipes had to be removed by an excavator as they had collapsed and were completely full of dirt. The job had to be completed before the rains came so we needed a competent contractor with appropriate staff that would work quickly. Pacific Group Developments responded quickly, professionally and solved the access issues safely with an engineered steel structure to drive an excavator down…… impressive! They also needed to connect other pipes, hydro jet them and rebuild a deep man hole / catch basin. They left the site clean and in good condition, but more importantly saved the house from water damage. All is working perfectly now and the job was well done.

I was looking for an excavation company and was told good things about Pacific Group Developments. Kelsey was quick to respond to my inquiry, and to give me an accurate time line and cost estimate for the required job. All staff were friendly and respectful in and around my home. I am so impressed by the finished result of the work they did. I will be using Pacific Group Developments for any future jobs that include excavation, landscaping, concrete work etc.

Living on Salt Spring Island, finding contractors can be difficult, we reached out to Kelsey at Pacific Group Developments for excavation and pouring of a concrete foundation for a pre-fabricated greenhouse, with very specific and precise dimensions. Kelsey and his crew did a phenomenal job, careful for existing gardens and taking time to get the formwork perfect. The guys were here everyday on via the ferry and worked solidly without breaks. Towards the end of the project Kelsey used his equipment to help us clean up a couple of old structures.... while the equipment is on the island. Sourcing materials, filling and leveling and cleanup were perfect. Acid test was assembly by the greenhouse provider, who said “wow this guy can do concrete work for me anytime”. I had the pleasure to hire Pacific Group Developments to remove a very inaccessible oil tank from my basement under a staircase. I found them courteous, timely, informative, clean and incredibly professional. They arrived when they said they would, removed the oil and oil tank in the time frame they estimated and after their cleanup there was no evidence that they had been there at all. We had a buried, underground oil tank on our property that was mitigated 22 years ago (drained, cut open, inspected and filled with sand). Our home insurance was up for renewal and the company informed us (a week before the renewal) that we had 30 days to remove the tank. If we didn’t remove the tank, the home insurance would not be renewed. We contacted Pacific Group Developments by email and they replied within 15 minutes. The next day, they were at our house in the morning. Impressive! Our oil tank removal turned out to be complicated as the footing for our addition and sundecks that we put on 10 years ago sat on top of the oil tank and it was therefore necessary to lift and support the addition and decks prior to removal. The Pacific Group team were thorough, professional and kept us informed every step of the process. The addition and decks were lifted and supported, the tank was removed and the site was inspected and approved. Job done well! Kelsey was great to work with and I would highly recommend them.

Pacific Group excavated and installed a concrete basement floor in our Heritage Home. They were neat, tidy and very efficient. I would highly recommend them to anyone and would have him back again.

I called various excavating companies for quotes and got confidence in Pacific Group Developments that my landscaping project would get done in a timely and thorough way so I picked them. The same day, Kelsey came and gave me a quote that evening.

After making several attempts by telephone to have a representative call on us for a price to have our furnace oil tank inspected and possibly removed without success, we were fortunate to phone Pacific Group Developments!

We were informed that their man “Kelsey” would be down that day for an inspection of the property and to submit his quote for the job. We agreed to the estimate and he said his equipment would be in our yard within five days, which it was, and excavation began to remove a huge commercial oil tank located in a tricky spot below the cement foundation of a 28’ atrium.

The next day they organized removal of unwanted material, an inspector on site at two different times, and delivery of suitable rock and sand into the empty hole when the tank was removed and taken away. Samples were forwarded to the lab the same day.

9 people worked very quickly and efficiently and all work was completed without a hitch. I would say this was the most efficient operation to watch. The results from the lab came back in about two weeks and I was pleased and relieved that all work was concluded without any problems whatsoever. Pacific Group Developments went above and beyond at every step of a large, lengthy and messy job involving new drain tiles, concrete retaining walls, concrete driveway, concrete sidewalks, landscaping, concrete removal, excavation and a new lawn that at no point seemed to want to go the way it should have due to weather.

This meant a new septic system which included logging and subsequent landscaping , with confidence that gave us peace of mind. Any and all questions where addressed with much patience and answered until we completely understood. We were very much included in the whole process no matter how small of detail. Due to the issues we had with our situation, Kelsey was able to give us a solution that we felt had come from sound and long term experience. We now have a perfectly operating septic field that is up to code, very easy to maintain and most importantly registered with the correct authorities.

We hired Kelsey and his team at Pacific Group Developments to remediate our and a nieghbouring property as a result of a buried heating oil tank that had leaked. Shortly after the work began, we became aware that the project was going to be a major and costly undertaking - we ended up removing and replacing over 450 tonnes of contaminated soil, driveway, sidewalk, landscaping, fencing and full provincial and municipal reporting. This was a very stressful situation for us as homeowners, and we felt very fortunate to have Kelsey with his broad experience working with us to complete the soil remediation.

Kelsey worked with us over the several months it took to complete the project, continuously giving us progress updates and providing options and advice to get the work done professionally, in the most cost effective way. Well now that the smoke has blown away and the garden is more or less back to normal I feel that I should say to you that I really appreciate the quality of the work that you did for me in removing my old leaky furnace oil tank and all the contaminated soil that was involved.

I must say that I was not expecting such a huge job but when the tank was removed it was immediately apparent that it must have been leaking for many years and that there would be much more to be done than just removing the tank. Fortunately the soil surrounding the tank was clay which helped to confine the contamination. Nevertheless there was a huge amount of contaminated soil to be taken away which amounted to 119 tons and considerable re-mediation had to be done for the very small amount of contaminated soil still in place where the tank had been. In summary I do appreciate the efforts that you made to keep me appraised of the work that was being done and had yet to be done. I also am grateful for your efforts to minimize the disturbance to the nearby ornamental plants, to keep the cost of the job to a minimum and to leave the work place very tidy and as attractive as possible. I certainly would be willing to recommend your company to others who may be faced with the same problem.

I want to thank you for the excellent service in removing our old underground gas / fuel tank from a previous fuel station. As you know it came as a complete surprise to us to find that we had an old underground fuel tank on part of our property. And although it had never caused us any difficulty in the last 27 years, an impending sale of the business gave us cause to seek help with very little notice. We needed to deliver the property free of any possible future environmental liabilities.

In short order you came by the property. Assessed the situation. Provided an estimate of what would need to be done. And a budget for the work to be done. Your crew then showed up only a few days later and did all the work as described in a clean and environmentally responsible manner insuring that all requisite standards were adhered to.

On May 4th I uncovered an old unused in-ground oil tank in our backyard. Although we are not selling our house, we felt that removing the tank was the right thing to do. When the tank was removed we discovered contaminated soil. The Saanich Fire Department, who regulates the removal of tanks under the B.C. Fire Code, was contacted and we were subsequently issued with a Correction Notice for soil remediation. This began 5 weeks of high stress and anxiety for my wife and me. Fortunately we had Kelsey from Pacific Group Developments as our contractor/Project Manager. Although Kelsey was not the first contractor that I spoke with, we had the good fortune to seek a second quote for the remediation work and found Kelsey (Pacific Group Developments).

Kelsey sat down with us, explained the process and what was needed to have a successful outcome. From the outset he was confident in his assessment of the work that needed to be done and with his ability to carry out the work and to achieve a successful outcome. I cannot say enough about how, throughout the project, Kelsey was able to reduce our stress levels by calmly and clearly explaining to us what was needed, what he would be doing and what we needed to do. Throughout the project, Kelsey would " check in on us" to make sure we were comfortable with what was being done and to reassure us that everything was proceeding according to plan. There were numerous occasions when my stress level was very high and Kelsey would call or I would call him. I would ask my questions or express my concerns about what was happening or what needed to be done. Without exception he was able to address any concerns. He showed a tremendous amount of empathy towards our situation.

His approach gave us peace of mind and on more than one occasion allowed me to get a good night sleep. As I have said, this project was incredibly stressful for us. As a homeowner I cannot think of a more stressful situation. Soil remediation is a highly regulated process. This is not something one can do on their own - plus it can be very expensive depending on many factors, the main one being the extent of the contamination. On June 12 I presented the remediation report to the Saanich Fire Department. On Jun 13 the Correction Notice from the Fire Department was removed. The file on this project is successfully closed.

Our experience with Kelsey and Pacific Group Developments began when we ran into unexpected problems with yet another renovation project in our older victoria home - our septic system. Pacific Group Developments saved a real estate sale for us by removing a large amount of oil contaminated soil in a very timely manner. It was caused by a buried oil tank which had leaked at our house in Victoria. I had perimeter drain problems, Kelsey made it very easy for me, he took care of all the little extras that went along with the job, including removing a 80 foot tree 2 feet away from my house and reducing it to chopped fire wood. During the first serious rainstorm of the year, I discovered I had a major leak in the basement of the house that I had just purchased less than 3 months previously. Kelsey and his Pacific Group Developments Team were able to start work on my place very quickly, alleviating the water intrusion. He kept me informed every step of the way, explaining the process he was taking to repair my house, and why my house flooded in the first place. The amount of work that I witnessed him and his crew do over the next few weeks was nothing short of amazing. Even on the weekends and during some severe weather, there was someone digging, or waterproofing my foundation or removing wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of heavy clay from my property to install new drain tiles. We hired Pacific Group Developments to decommission and remove a very large commercial fuel oil tank that was sitting above ground on our property. They did a first-rate job. Kelsey and his company are extremely professional, courteous, hard-working and knowledgeable. We appreciate being kept informed throughout the process. In addition, they offered to rip out and clear over an acre of broom with their excavator, which was already on our property for the tank removal. Most of the broom plants were taller than the excavator so we will be burning them for some time but we are thrilled to have this part of our property cleared of a very invasive plant.

We were one of the lucky ones upon finding a buried oil tank for 2 reasons: 1. There was no oil or leaks associated with the tank. 2. We connected with Pacific Group Developments.

The work was done efficiently, the job was looked at the day i first called them and the work was done in less than 2 weeks.After completion, the yard and fence etc. looked like it had never been touched except a small patch with no grass. Upon completion they brought the completed paper work to our house, not mailed or told stop by the office to pick them up. They had us look the papers over and be sure we understood and were satisfied with the info supplied to us.

The property was part of an estate sale and a real estate transaction  depended on the removal of the oil tank with the accompanying permits and proper certification. We highly recommend this company for oil tank removal and due to the quality of their work i am sure they are as competent at all their jobs. We will certainly use them again, but hopefully no more hidden oil tanks.

We just had a big job completed by Pacific Group Developments. They installed new perimeter drains around our house, removed a buried oil tank, remediated contaminated soil, replaced water line, sewer lateral and storm lateral, going out from the house to the property line, and replaced sidewalks and driveway with new concrete. Kelsey encouraged us to watch each step of the project; kept us updated daily on what they were doing, and at the end of the day he would let us know what they would be doing the next day. We have never seen such a great group of construction workers. Kelsey, Craig, Preston, Geoff and Mike were such hard workers, always pleasant and only stopping for the occasional short break. Their main focus was getting the best job done for us as quickly as possible. They were all so courteous and a pleasure to have around. We can't say enough positive things about this group of workers and the excellent job that they did. We would not hesitate to highly recommend them to anyone requiring any of their many services. To be honest, I wish I'd never met Kelsey and Pacific Group Developments inc, but a road accident on the neighbouring street which caused a major break in our water supply meant we did. This situation caused our business to close due to major flooding and then no water during the repairs, therefore the time it took to repair was of the essence. Kelsey and his team worked quickly and cleanly (important for a public location) Kelsey was diligent in working with the authorities and insurance company, furthermore he kept me up to speed with his twice daily call. The Pacific Group Developments team were very professional and timely when it came to removal of a below ground oil tank and soil contamination in my back yard. They were literally at my door within an hour of me contacting them when they heard that I was in the process of selling my house and had discovered a buried oil tank that needed removal. One of their competitors did not even return my phone call until 3 days after Pacific Group Developments had already started the process. Kelsey kept me informed as to how the process worked as the necessary government paperwork was filed through the necessary agencies. Kelsey and his crew expedited this so that from start to finish it was little over a week. I would whole-heartedly recommend Pacific Group Developments for any of your needs.

Kelsey and the Pacific Group crew were hired to help with our new cob built house in Sooke BC with many experimental features focused on earth friendly building concepts, high inefficiencies and solar / geo thermal components. They did our perimeter drainage system and filled our house foundation with 34 truck loads of road base for our solar / geo thermal heating system and back filled and graded around the house. It was hot, grueling, back-breaking work. But they did it with laughter and smiles on their faces, and even worked the weekend to get it done. The work was professional, as per the inspector’s expectation, at the agreed price, and ahead of schedule. Kelsey is an honest, dedicated and an innovative contractor, who does the job right. I called Pacific Group Developments for a quote to “repair” the perimeter drains at my home. The reality turned into a total replacement. Kelsey walked me through the process in a detailed, patient and clearly understood manner. I was never hesitant to ask questions; therefore, I felt extremely confident starting this stressful project.

All went well until we encountered several feet of granite rock on one side of the house. The original drains stopped on one side of the rock and continued on the opposite side. Several days of tirelessly drilling and broken drill bits etc., Kelsey and his crew were able to remove the rock and complete the job. The crew at Pacific Group Developments were courteous, respectful and worked long arduous hours at my home.

The crew from Pacific Group Developments were contracted perform land clearing, excavation and level some rough terrain (containing some large stumps) and to build forms and pour a large concrete pad for the future site of a storage building. To my surprise, within 2 days of agreeing on the project, work started. The crew showed up exactly when we agreed, worked hard and got the job done over a period of 4 days. The best aspect was that I was involved through constant consultation. Kelsey and crew offered several creative solutions to some of the layout problems that I had and made several improvements to my original plan. At all points I was consulted and improvements suggested with the result that the job was done to the highest standards with no shortcuts. I appreciated this as the job could have been technically completed with much lower quality. It is thanks to Kelsey that he wanted to do the best job possible to ensure customer satisfaction and to create work that the crew was proud of. Throughout, a friendly and polite crew. The site cleanup was excellent, allowing me to appreciate the completed job without having to do more work!

I called Pacific Group about a buried oil tank as I had their information on file at Century 21 Queenswood Realty Victoria BC where I am an agent. I figured if I was going to refer them to my clients then I should know what I am talking about. The job was a bit tricky removing a buried oil tank from underneath 50 years of tree roots and trying to minimize any damage to the existing trees. My husband wanted to ignore the buried tank issue so we tried to do the job as quickly and quietly as possible to reduce the stress on him. Kelsey was understanding and co-operative in that aspect. The work was done super fast and the site was left very tidy. Luckily we had no surprises with a leaky tank and now we can sell the house knowing it is safe for the buyers. Kelsey did an extraordinary job of explaining how he planned on fixing the problem, detailing every step along the way. We had many, many questions which he answered clearly and patiently each time. We had Kelsey and his crew from Pacific Group replace our drains and pour concrete ground seal on our crawlspace floor on our 1959 Rancher after our crawlspace flooded the previous winter.
